Frequently Asked Questions

b1965.sg is a project to share the stories of Singaporeans born in 1965, the year Singapore gained independence. You can find a fuller explanation of this undertaking at https://b1965.sg/about-b1965sg

At the end of the day, it hopes to share the widest compilation of lives lived by Singaporeans born in 1965 — one that includes people from all walks of lives and representative of the demographics.

An interviewee has to be a Singaporean born in 1965. Obviously, the person must be willing to share openly.

The author believes that every life lived is different and unique. No life is ‘ordinary’.

Physical face-to-face meetings are preferred although some of the interviews will have to be done via Zoom or equivalent. Whatsapp and email have also been useful and important tools in filling in gaps.

The interviews are often edited for clarity and length. However, the author takes extreme care in ensuring that every interviewee is accurately represented. As a collaborative effort, all interviewees will be shown the final edited version of their interviews before publication.

b1965.sg was created by Tay Kay Chin, a Singaporean photographer born in the year 1965.

Funding for b1965.sg comes from Kay Chin.

b1965.sg welcomes sponsors and collaborators as long as the independence and original intentions for starting the project are not compromised.
